I often say that the reason why we have “love” in our lives is because early humans that could not experience love would not sacrifice themselves to save their progeny, therefor those that “love” reproduced more successfully and now we have “love” (along with jealousy) as a result of “selected for” emotional responses. (just my hypothesis)
