My ongoing thing for smart women

I am a mad scientist. Because I am successful at it, "they" call me an entrepreneur. I turn science fiction into science fact. I have many facets. I am fascinated with intelligence, tattoos and beautiful women. I build companies and am a leader of men. I have a dark side that I explore in a controlled manner. I enjoy participating in combat sports and other rough distractions. I produce and promote the use of green technology. I both love and hate humanity. I think we are in a failing system because it produces leaders that are the most popular of the average; who wants that? Amazing Steampunk Portal Gun

by Jonathan Fallon onMarch 8, 2012

DeviantART member batman-n-bananas created this steampunk Portal gun using (among other things) parts from an antique clock, hangers, plumbing parts, a plant pot, various lids, plastic tub, a pocket laser disc, lightbulbs, metal covering from an old hairbrush and copious amounts of glue. Somehow he managed to pull all of it together to create the awesomeness you see here.

Check out some additional photos after the break.

Some the best cosplay I have seen

A Gallery of the Most Accurate Female Video Game Costumes

Published by Paul Tassi at 12:00 pm under Images,Video Games

Alright, I’ve seen so many amazing examples of cosplay over the last year or two, I decided to put some of them into one master post. But as I don’t want an endlessly long gallery, I tried to restrict it with a few basic criteria: video game related and female. Any complaints?

As you’ll see in my title, this is not the “Hottest Video Game Cosplayers” as has been done (probably by us), but the “Most Accurate.” As it so happens, the two often go hand in hand, as there are very female female characters in games that anyone would consider unattractive. I picked each of these girls because even though many have tried to portray these specific characters, it takes a very specific look, and a hell of a talented costume designer to make sure they’re the absolute best, which I can consider these selections to be. A professional photographer doesn’t hurt either.

Some of these we’ve featured here before with their own galleries, some are new finds I hadn’t see until today. I tried to cover every major video game female that came to mind, with a few supporting characters to boot, and if I missed one in particular let me know, and I’ll start a hunt.

Gallery begins below:

Alice (American McGee’s Alice)

Bayonetta (Bayonetta)

Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)

Cammy (Street Fighter)

Chell (Portal)

Ivy (Soul Calibur)

Jill Valentine (Resident Evil)

Kitana (Mortal Kombat)

Mai (King of Fighters)

Jack (Mass Effect)

Miranda (Mass Effect)

Faith (Mirror’s Edge)

Morrigan (Darkstalkers)

Princess Peach (Super Mario Bros.)

Raiden (Metal Gear Solid)

Rikku (Final Fantasy X)

Rosalina (Super Mario Galaxy)

Samus Aran (Metroid)

Tali (Mass Effect)

Tifa (Final Fantasy VII)

Zelda (The Legend of Zelda)

EPIC PORTAL COSPLAY

portal 2 atlas and p-body hugging When faced with such awesomeness, the only logical response is to hug. [ Image Source ]

I hereby vow, Geekologists, not to describe the following cosplay as ‘a triumph’ during the following post. If you require a more concrete demonstration of this unbreakable oath, I will go ahead and swear on a copy of Chrono Trigger for the SNES.

It’s tempting, you understand, to quote “Still Alive” whenever something awesome and Portal-related slides across the ol’ GeekOlogy radar. It’s just… the lyrics fit so well, you know? But we must strive, together, for a greater degree of originality. We must advance side by side, pressing ever onward toward the zenith of creativity. Sorta like Chell, I guess.

Yeah, maybe we should’ve just quoted “Still Alive” after all.

At any rate, regardless of how we do it, we do have some awesome Portal 2 cosplay to share with you. The Chell on display here is appropriately cool, but what really gets me about this photo is the sheer believability of the Atlas and P-Body costumes. They look like they jumped through a portal and straight off the computer screen! Amazing. We live in a beautiful world:

Not sure who these folks are yet, but go ahead and step forward if it’s you! If these guys are also Ology readers, why… that would make them the greatest people in the history of the world.

Of the entire world.
